Research Fellow
Inga Kristina Trauthig is a Research Fellow at ICSR and PhD candidate in War Studies at King’s College London. Her current research focuses on approaches to governance by armed Islamist non-state groups in Libya. The research aims to understand the local factors that led to the rise of Islamic State in Libya, a place in which it implemented a highly sophisticated agenda of socialisation and governance, attempting to co-opt and seduce local communities into accepting its agenda.
She holds an MLitt in Middle East, Caucasus and Central Asian Security Studies from the University of St Andrews and attended the University of Wuerzburg and the University of Texas at Austin for her undergraduate studies. The German Academic Exchange Service and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation supported her studies. Her fields of expertise are political and security dynamics of the geographic area of the MENA region.
