Speaker: Shiraz Maher
Shiraz Maher recently embedded with the Pakistan Army and travelled to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan for Standpoint Magazine to witness the ongoing war there. Prior to this, Shiraz was at Policy Exchange, for which he authored the recently published ‘Choosing Our Friends Wisely: Criteria for Engaging with Muslim Groups’. From 2002-05, Shiraz was a member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir, becoming a regional officer for Northeast England before resigning as a matter of conscience. He holds academic degrees from the universities of Leeds and Cambridge.
