After four months at ICSR, Manar Rachwani and Sagit Yehoshua presented their research papers to a full room yesterday.
Drawing from their personal experiences and professional lives as Middle Easterners, they both addressed the gap between the peoples’ desire for peace and their actions and behaviour on the ground.
Manar’s paper analyses what he calls “the cold Peace” and tries to tackle the discrepancy between the genuine plea for peace from Arab nations and the lack of deeds on the ground to make it happen.
Sagit’s paper focuses on the more psychological side of the conflict. In her professional life Sagit has had the opportunity to meet with extremists and terrorists in prisons. In her research paper for ICSR she tried to understand the process of radicalisation and concludes that only a normalisation process between both the Palestinian and the Israeli people can restore faith and hope in the peace process.

Thanks to the generosity of the Atkin Foundation, ICSR is offering young leaders from Israel and the Arab world the opportunity to come to London in order to engage in research, debate and constructive dialogue in a neutral political environment.
